Bahrain: Two years after its beginning, the challenge continues

Many events took place in the Shiite villages of Bahrain and its capital, Manama, Thursday, February 14, the second anniversary of the uprising mate in this small Gulf countries Shiite majority, ruled by a Sunni dynasty.

ONGOING DISCUSSIONS

As we approach the second anniversary of the uprising, the protests have multiplied in Bahrain. Thursday, protesters responded to a call for a general strike and civil disobedience launched by the Collectif 14-February, a radical underground group that orchestrates the mobilization of social networks.

The clashes, unprecedented for several months occur while negotiations were launched Sunday by the government and the Shiite opposition in an attempt to put an end to two years of political deadlock. Opposition calls including a constitutional monarchy, an elected government and an end to sectarian discrimination.
